Dark Tranquillity – “Misery’s Crown” Live in Milan 2008 & PV

“Beauty and the Beast” of heavy metal.

This live performance is a sample taken from Dark Tranquillity’s live DVD “Where Death Is Most Alive” (Century Media, 2009). This stage was held on 31 October, 2008 in Milan.

“Misery’s Crown” is taken from their eighth studio album “Fiction” (Century Media, 2007).

Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in 1989. They are regarded as one of the originators of melodic death metal and the longest-standing band of Swedish death metal scene (also called ‘Gothenburg metal scene‘).

This song “Misery’s Crown” show us the character of their recent music style, which is beautiful harmony of static parts and aggressive sounds.

They built their melodic death metal style on the masterpiece “Gallery” (Century Media, 1995) with vocalist Mikael Stanne’s ‘most beautiful’ growled voice, aggressive and fast guitars, acoustic parts and female vocals. We can hear their static and soft elements on their fourth album “Projector” (Century Media, 1999). In this album, they threw away growled vocals and their signature death metal sound, took Stanne’s soft baritone vocals and ordinary rock/pop song structure (e.g. verse-chorus style).

Lyrics

All is not been broken
On streets I dare not walk
Freedom is an illusion
I build my fences high
If there was something out there
I’ve learned not to expect
There’s a hundred million reasons
Not to care

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me
The misery’s crown

As always in these matters
You broke the deal of deals
And wasted what was given
To revel in your mess
I gave up all for nothing
I tried my best
And failed
There’s a thousand million reasons
Never to share again

This is how it all begins
This is how it all begins

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me
The misery’s crown

This is how it all begins

Come now
Come now
Come now

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me
The misery’s crown
